Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet community in The West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" area. The people who aren't familiar with this term frequently think that it's a separate island somewhere in the west of Montreal however, this part of West Island is home to every aspect of the city of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel is said to be born on the West Island. But it's not the case. Brugel grew to be a woman of a certain age in Courtice Ontario, just outside Oshawa. She aspired to be professional, however due to a rapid increase in her height, she outgrew every dance partner she met. A Toronto Star article revealed she's 6ft 1in tall in heels. As I got bigger than my male counterparts, I gave up. The Brugel is one of the former dancers who shifted into acting. Her high school teacher school was the one who pushed her in the right direction. The teacher who suggested she pursue a role for the annual school production. She tried out and eventually got the role of the main character in Anne of Green Gables. The show led her to receive a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000, she received her BA in Fine Arts at York University. The career of Brugel spans more than 20 years and she's appeared in 60 different productions including big screen productions and on smaller ones. The most well-known role she played was the one of Rita (pictured below) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian actor in the season 1 of the show and was only appeared on occasion.
